1.  Share the Gospel (God’s truth)

(Acts 8:26-35, NKJV) “Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.” So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.”

2.  Live Like Jesus

a.  Submitted to God’s Word and His will

b.  Dependent upon prayer and communion with God

c.  Loving the lost, broken and forgotten

(Matthew 4:4-11, NKJV) “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ And, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.”

3.  Serve Our Neighbors

(Matthew 20:25-28, NKJV) “But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Growthwork

1.  Sharing the Gospel

  • How can I be more sensitive to God’s prompting and demonstrate the urgency to initiate contact with people in our lives who may be ready to hear from Jesus?
  • How can I be a better student of His Word?

2.  Living Like Jesus

  • How can I better submit to His will and understanding of His Word?
  • Commit to building dependency on God by spending more time in prayer and waiting on Him for direction in all areas in our lives.
  • Commit to seeing our neighbors through the eyes of Christ with compassion!

3.  Serving Our Neighbors

  • Commit to intentionally getting to better know someone near us with whom we don’t typically speak.
