BALANCING ACT
Mission in Action #1
Pastor Brandon Cross
Woodland Church
Sunday, April 26, 2026
(Acts 2:40-47, NKJV) “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”
The question before us this morning is how does the church live out the mission of “celebrating God’s love by persuading people to be passionately followers of Christ”?
1. We need to know what we believe and why
2. Commitment to true biblical community
3. The community noticed and was drawn to them
Growthwork
1. We need to ask ourselves, “Have I truly committed myself to serving as a life-giving member of the church body?”
2. Continue to commit to reading and understanding God’s Word and being ready to share the Gospel.(Reading Plan – Accountability – Partner?)
3. Find one opportunity this week to commit more fully to building the body of Christ in a sacrificial way. (Fill a need in serving either in a ministry or for a specific person/family.)
