(Acts 16:6-10) “Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”
1. Seek God
(Matthew 6:33) “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need”
2. Pursue Your Calling
- Called to move ahead
- Called to be filled with the Holy Spirit
- Called to a vision
- You have a call
- Called to be like Christ
- Called to belong
- Called to be loved
3. Obey God’s Moral Commands
(2 Corinthians 6:14) “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?”
4. Be Open to God’s Interruptions
(Acts 16:10) “So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”
GROWTHWORK
- Is your decision consistent with the Ten Commandments?
- Will your decision deepen your relationship with Christ?
- Is your decision an extension of the life and teachings of Jesus?
- Will your decision glorify Christ and enable you to grow as a passionate follower of Christ?
- Is it risky enough to need God’s presence and power?
- Have you prayed and thought long enough that you have a sense of peace?
- Can you praise God in advance of doing this?
- Is it an authentic expression of love and will it bring good to others?
- Will you grow?
- Will your expenditures still allow tithing plus generous giving of your money for missions, benevolence, and the needs of others?
