PREPARE YOUR HEART
by Corey Mantz
Our family has been watching the Winter Olympics and we have been enjoying the skiing, snowboarding, the bobsled, and curling! These athletes train for years dedicating their time and energy to become the best that they can be at their sport. When reporters ask these athletes questions, many often ask about their preparation and how they trained. These athletes don’t win Gold by accident, they prepare for them early on.
Just like our Olympic athletes prepare for their sport, we need to prepare ourselves as we begin our fast. Fasting is not a spur of the moment thing. It is planned; it’s something that we prepare for. As we fast we are preparing our heart and mind to draw closer to God. Begin to prepare your heart by spending time in prayer and reading your Bible. As you prepare yourself during this fast, God will begin to equip you for the work that He has planned for your life.
(2 Timothy 2:20-22) “ In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.”
